A single number is a scalar, a list is a vector, a table is a matrix, and a table with more dimensions is a tensor. A colour image is a height × width × 3 tensor.
GPU “Tensor Cores” are built specifically to multiply tensors fast — the main reason AI runs quickly on GPUs.
